York Minster, in the heart of York city centre, has been an important place of worship in the York area for more than 1,000 years. This important York church is actually the largest Gothic cathedral in the north of Europe and has a particularly peaceful atmosphere. Attractions at York Minster include audio-guided tours, the famous Rose window, a vast number of stained-glass windows, numerous impressive period features, breathtaking architecture and access to the top of the tall tower - 275 steps, which offers spectacular, panoramic views across central York.
