York Visit August 2007 - Guest Accommodation
My family and I have recently returned from a four-night stay in York and had a lovely time.
My husband, two children (boy 6, girl 3) and I stayed in the four diamond St. Mary's Guest House, which was an approximate five minute walk on the banks of the River Ouse, along the “Dame Judy Dench Walk”, into York's city centre.

Our family room for four was spacious and clean, with an en-suite shower room. The décor was pleasant although a little tired looking, this was also true of the dining area, however; it was nice to have a family room for four that had proper beds for the whole family rather than just a double bed with a couple of put-you-ups. We found the shower room to be clean but it could have done with a new toilet suite since the pink basin was cracked. It would also have been nice if there had been a lock on the shower room door and for the door to close without slam it incredibly hard.

Despite these minor quibbles, the guesthouse, which has ten bedrooms, was peaceful and you were rarely aware of the house having any other guests. The staff were unobtrusive but extremely friendly and approachable. We found our accommodation to be reasonably priced and ideally situated, with on-road parking in a quiet residential area, off-road parking was available but generally used by the guesthouse owner.
We would willing stay here again should we return to York.
